This week was a busy week.
It saw our last parental involvement session. Now all parents have had an opportunity to visit our class and ‘dirty’ their hands with our activities and understand a bit our system. The roster for parents volunteers is also out (though I need to change a few dates/times due to concert rehearsal – so please have a look at your email if I have already given you a slot). If there are parents who would still like to be on this roster, please let me know. The next roster will be from January.
You will also find pictures of our trip to Valletta Glass and ALka Ceramics. The children enjoyed both places and we could observe how glass objects are made out of coloured sand, heating and lots of blowing and twirling around on a metal pole. The children also went on a tour of the shop and observed different things on display. We were on the look out for shapes and we found plenty. At Alka then we learnt that clay is a natural product and is found in the ground in certain areas of Malta, mostly Golden Bay area. We saw how once we form something out of clay it needs to dry and then be baked in a Kiln. We saw the process of this Kiln as well. We then proceeded in creating our own artwork mostly Christmas items. These items will be fired for us by Alka Ceramics and then will be delivered to school (fingers crossed) in time for Christmas.
Now enjoy the pictures and discuss with your child what they were doing. Enjoy. xxx
